Not only Russian copyright, broadcast and digital law
Whether the annotations contained in the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (OCGA), authored by the Georgia General Assembly and made an inextricable part of the official codification of Georgia’s laws, may be copyrighted by the State of Georgia. No valid copyright interest can be asserted in any part of the OCGA.

The Russian ministry of internal affairs (MIA) has drafted special paper, some king of clear explanation, describing what is insulting of state authority bodies or institutions. But the most important thing is that this paper or, if more officially, methodical recommendations, are not of obligatory nature. In other words recommendations only “recommend” and authorities can apply the new law on punishment for insulting of authorities at their own discretion.

Russian internet watchdog Roskomnadzor (RKN) has decided to transpose the British approach to mass media regulation into Russia. Such decision has been made on reciprocal principle. The new supposed regulation is to be applied only to foreign mass media; the Russian mass media should be regulated as usual. UK regulator Ofcom has imposed on Russia Today because it believes RT has violated the principle of objectivity.

Russian movie theatrical distributor has filed complaint to Russian constitutional court in order to challenge the rules for theatrical distribution. The distributor believes these rules are of censorship nature. The complaint states on violation of freedom and rights by the actions of Russian ministry of culture (MinCult). MinCult has the rights to shift release dates almost of any film in Russia or repeal the permission for theatrical distribution at all.

Publishers are increasingly facing difficulties in relation to the digital exploitation of, and the enforcement of rights in, press publications such as newspapers and magazines. The changes to the way copyright-protected content is distributed and consumed in the digital environment have affected press publications in a specific way. The publishing industry is in the middle of a shift from print to digital.

A dramatic work must originate from the author of that work to be protected by copyright. A dramatic work that is merely copied from another source is not copyrightable.

The Russian commissioner for human rights – Tatyana Moskalkova – has proposed to define in law what the internet crime is. She believes new definition would help people to avoid prosecution for repost and sharing in social networks. The relevant committee in the Russian Council Federation believes such proposal deserves attention and should be considered.

The group of Russian senators has introduced to Russian state duma new draft law on digital profile. According explanation note the draft law addresses the matter of rules and common approaches necessary to governing the issues of legally significant remote identification and authentication of persons with legal consequences in matters non-relevant to providing of state services and functions. The draft law defines identification, authentication and digital profile of person.

The Russian government has introduced new law to Russian state duma. This draft law provides creation of one database containing all information on each Russian citizen. There should be data on birth, name, basic documents confirming certain status of persons, relationships with other persons and estate.

The new Russian law on internet autonomy implies its protection, namely protection of Russian segment of internet. But what exactly includes the so called Russian segment of internet? The internet it is worldwide network. In order to connect to something or with someone you should know address. The addresses mostly are in English. Even the main Russian domain zone is in English – ru. It is not so simple task for Russian legislators to define what the Russian segment of internet should include or imply.
