Russian ministry of culture (MinCult) intends to amend relevant governmental decree in order to collect private copying levy from smart watch. Amendments are already agreed in order to be proposed to government. At the same time it is also proposed to exclude digital video cameras from taxable equipment.
Representative of manufacturers and importers of taxable equipment believes it is “absurd” to collect private copying levy from smart watch. People don’t use such watch in order to record video or music. Private copying levy would cause increasing of prices on smart watch. It seems he does not make a difference between recording and making copy.
Association of manufacturers and importers of taxable equipment has also sent a letter to Russian prime-minister Dmitry Medvedev. In this letter they asked him not to sign new amendments, proposed by MinCult. According to letter, the industry of manufacturers and importers waits for amendments in this governmental decree very long time (but they did not hope that amendments will be so unsolicited). It seems the chief of this association will send letters till the end of time.
